Laughin' & Cookin'

Best of Bridge Home Cooking is a go-to cookbook for new cooks who didn’t inherit or copy down mom’s recipes, don’t want to search the Internet, and simply want to create great meals for their family and friends. Plus, fun little quotable tidbits are sprinkled throughout so whether you’re cooking alone or with friends you will be laughing and having fun!

Book Review: Best of Bridge Home Cooking, 250 Easy & Delicious Recipes

Author: Best of Bridge (Contributors)

“Have you ever had one of those days when you’re holding a stick and everybody looks like a Piñata?” (pg. 61) I have. LOL!

A number of recipes come together in a Slow Cooker which is IMO every mom’s best friend. Old South Pulled Pork on a Bun (pg. 106) makes my mouth water! Some are “not your mama’s” recipes like “Kale and Brussel Sprout Slaw” (pg. 76) and Quinoa Salad with Mint and Feta (pg. 92) reminding us it’s easy to choose and prepare superfoods for our everyday meals. Then there are the “Fast-and-Easy” recipes (check the Index - they’re all listed there. I like that!)

“Anybody can win unless there happens to be a second entry.” (pg. 85) Hello? Darn, I was planning on winning the HGTV Dream Home…

This collection of breakfast-to-desert easy-fast-delicious recipes is a perfect wedding shower gift, or for your bachelor-son or boyfriend who always serves you Tuna Casserole… think “Spanish Vegetable Paella” (pg. 150) or “Classic Lasagna (pg. 194, slow cooker). “Sausage Pie with Polenta Crust” (pg.154) and “Indian-Spiced Chicken and Barley” (pg. 258) sound so good… I’m going to make both of these as soon as my new slow-cooker arrives!

PS I especially appreciate cookbooks that are spiral bound so they lay flat or sit nicely in a counter-top book holder, have large enough print so I can keep reading while my hands are full, and are strategically presented on one page or a 2-page spread - No spill-overs (Yes, I did notice & thank you! :-)

“Adult: A person who has stopped growing at both ends and is now growing in the middle.” (pg. 285) Ha! Get this book even if you don’t cook! You’ll start.
